How is water usage managed in the dyeing process? Dyeing is one of the most water- and chemical-intensive stages of textile production. Ask whether a supplier uses water treatment or recycling systems, and how they manage chemical discharge.
What happens to fabric waste and offcuts? Cutting and production naturally generate waste. Ask whether that waste is landfilled, or whether it's repurposed, recycled, or minimized through better production planning.
Is there visibility into raw material sourcing? Cotton sourcing practices vary widely in labor conditions and environmental impact. A supplier who can trace their raw material sourcing is one who can actually answer questions about it — not just assert good intentions.
Are energy sources considered in production? Manufacturing energy usage, from spinning to finishing, contributes meaningfully to a product's overall footprint. Ask what a supplier's energy mix looks like and whether efficiency improvements are an ongoing focus.
